When people picture the perfect engagement session, they often imagine warm sunshine and blue skies. But in the Pacific Northwest, some of the most beautiful moments happen under dramatic clouds—and this session was proof of that. These Discovery Park engagement photos captured everything that makes Seattle so special: sweeping coastal views, moody skies, and a couple who fully embraced the weather.
From the start, these two were up for anything. They laughed through the trails, took in the views over Puget Sound, and even brought along their adorable little Chihuahua, which made the session feel even more personal.
One of my favorite things about photographing at Discovery Park is the variety it offers. In just a short walk, you can find forest trails, open meadows, rugged bluffs, and beautiful beaches, making every engagement session feel unique.
As the session went on, the clouds rolled in and the rain began to fall. Instead of heading home, they decided to keep going, and those final moments on the beach became some of my favorite images of the day. The soft light, misty shoreline, and gentle rain created a dreamy atmosphere that simply can’t be recreated on a sunny day.
Their willingness to embrace the moment reflected who they are as a couple—fun, adventurous, and completely present with one another. Sometimes the best photographs come from letting go of expectations and simply enjoying the experience together.
