While there are tons of beautiful venues that overlook the sound, why not get out on it? This Seattle boat Wedding did just that. Taking place on board the beautiful JoAhna K, a classic 1950’s wooden yacht originally designed by William Garden for an Oscar-winning Hollywood camera engineer. The luxurious details of this vessel are unmatched. For example, the bronze railings, blue glass illuminators, brass finishings, wooden floors, crown molding, large decks, she is unlike any modern yacht today therefore is the perfect wedding venue.

The JoAhna K, operated by the friendly team at Salty Dayz Adventures, can pretty much go anywhere from the San Juan’s to Lake Union. For this Seattle boat Wedding we choose Elliott Bay for its unmatched views of Downtown Seattle. Elevated Events by Tosha pulled in deep blues, brilliant whites and golds for the table while keeping the ceremony area simple by using the boat’s life preservers and ropes to enhance the JoAhna K’s deck. The beautiful dress by Cicada Bridal studded with pearls matched the nautical feel of this shoot. As for flowers, the florist Poppy and Pomegranate wanted to mimic the setting sun. She choose yellows, pinks and oranges and as a result it complimented the sunset perfectly.

Most importantly when it came time for the couple’s portraits I knew we had to take advantage of the beautiful views of downtown. I also wanted to showcase the beautiful characteristics of the boat as well. The starboard side of the JoAhna K was perfect for individual portraits. Then moving to the bow where we lucked out with dramatic clouds, colors, and a gentle breeze that made the champagne toast one of the most beautiful I’ve ever captured. In conclusion this Seattle boat Wedding was one of the most unique I’ve ever shot.
